Orthodox Goons: 2 Rabbis Accused in Kidnap and Torture Plot

Here's something you don't hear every day. Two New York-area Orthodox rabbis were arrested by FBI agents on Thursday after they were accused of plotting the kidnappings of Jewish men to pressure them into granting their wives permission to divorce.
The FBI made the bust after setting up rabbis Mendel Epstein and Martin Wolmark in a sting operation in which an undercover agent pretended to be a woman seeking a divorce. In Orthodox Judaism, only a husband can initiate divorce.
How did the rabbis convince men to change their minds? According to criminal complaint, for a fee of $10,000 for the kidnapping and another $50,000 to $60,000 to play "tough guy," they allegedly used electric cattle prods and plastic bags over the heads of the husbands that needed convincing. The pair even allegedly scouted out a warehouse in Middlesex County, New Jersey to hold the husband hostage and bragged they conducted such operations every 18 months or so.
Wolmark at one point allegedly told the undercover agent posing as an unhappily married woman, "You need special rabbis who are going to take this thing and see it through to the end."
