NASA scientists have made a major breakthrough in the push to send a manned mission to Mars -- there's plenty of water there.
The Mars rover Curiosity has found that each cubic foot of dirt on the Red Planet contains approximately two pints of water that could be extracted and used. Apparently, the soil is actually absorbing water from Mars's atmosphere.
The rover gathered about a ton of soil and then heated the dirt to a super-high temperature, then measured what gases boiled off. That's how scientists found the water.
