San Diego Mayor Sexual Harassment

Things have gone from bad to worse for embattled San Diego Mayor Bob Filner. The San Diego City Council not only voted to reject his request to pay his legal bills on Tuesday, they voted to sue him to recover any costs the city incurs due to a sexual harassment suit filed by his former communications director.

The council's unanimous votes came on the same day an eighth woman stepped forward claiming she was sexually harassed by the mayor.

City Attorney Jan Goldsmith said, "This is part of due process. If Bob Filner engaged in unlawful conduct and the city is held liable, he will have to reimburse us every penny the city pays and its attorney fees."

Filner has apologized for allegedly groping, kissing and making unwanted sexual advances toward eight different women. He says he will undergo two weeks of "intensive therapy" on August 5th, but he has so far ignored calls for hims to step down from his post.
