Jay Z and Beyonce were among the thousands who turned out across the country to attend rallies Saturday demanding justice for Trayvon Martin.
Hip-hop's most powerful couple attended a rally in New York City to protest Stand Your Ground laws.
Although neither spoke at the event, activist Al Sharpton noted their attendance in a speech to the crowd. He said, "Jay Z and Beyonce said they didn't want to speak and they didn't come for a photo op. Let me tell you, that before a lot of you were down, Jay Z always supported us. Jay Z told me, 'I'm a father. Beyonce is a mother.' We all feel the pain and apprehension -- the laws must protect everybody, or it doesn't protect anybody. We do not come from hate, we come from love of children."
The night before the rally, Jay Z paid tribute to Martin at his concert at Yankee Stadium with Justin Timberlake by dedicating "Young Forever" to the unarmed teen who was shot to death by George Zimmerman. The night that Zimmerman was acquitted of Martin's murder, Beyonce called for a moment of silence during her show in Nashville and sang part of "I Will Always Love You" in Martin's honor.
