Rihanna Fires back at Liz Jones!!!!!

Rihanna doesn’t want to be a role model — and she’s not afraid to argue with reporters, either.

In a post to her Instagram account, the 25-year-old singer fired back at Liz Jones, a Daily Mail reporter who called her a “poisonous pop princess” and a “toxic role model for her army of young fans.”

Liz thinks Rihanna is setting the wrong example for young women with her fashion choices, tattoos, fake hair, false nails, fascination with guns and decision to go back to abusive ex Chris Brown.

Ri-Ri’s not having it. Here’s her lengthy response:

As of this writing, more than 166,000 of Rihanna’s Instagram followers have “liked” the photo/post.

Though perhaps there’s some merit to debating Rihanna’s public persona and its effect on young girls, Liz’s article seems rather excessive in its criticism.

“Even her jewellery is the opposite of feminine: it is hard, costly and combative,” Liz writes of Rihanna’s “Bad” knuckle ring. Because women shouldn’t wear “hard” jewelry? Huh? And isn’t Liz also being combative with this long laundry list of insults? A female reporter’s petty tear-down of a successful female celebrity seems at least as problematic as a female celebrity’s “bad girl” image, if not more so.

The question that remains is: do female celebrities have the responsibility to be good role models? Rihanna doesn’t think so, but 23-year-old Taylor Swift does.

“I’m not uncomfortable with it,” Taylor told Kelly Ripa last year about her status as a role model. “You have to be conscious of that. If you’re choosing to put out music and be out there in the public, you have to be conscious of the fact that you are a part of the raising of the next generation and you do have an impact on that. So, choose your outfits and your words and your actions carefully. I think it matters. I think it really does. You can pretend it doesn’t, but it does.”

Do you think Rihanna is a bad role model? Should she be obligated to be a role model at all?
