NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man has been taken into custody after police said he pointed an unloaded automatic weapon at a neighbor during an argument. The incident happened in front of a bus stop where children were waiting to go to school.
Officers with the Metro Nashville Police Department were called to the intersection of Jay Street and Lutie Street in South Nashville around 8:30 a.m. Monday.
The neighbors apparently had an ongoing conflict that escalated. Witnesses said the suspect was in his own yard when he pointed the gun at the neighbor.
Police identified the gun as an Uzi submachine gun. They said the weapon was not loaded with a clip and the suspect did not point the gun towards the students, but 10 middle school aged children were at the bus stop and witnessed the incident.
Officials with Metro Nashville Public Schools said they were moving the bus stop so the students would not be near the conflict area.
The suspect's identity was not released.
