2 TSU football players suspended from team indefinitely

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Two football players at Tennessee State University have been suspended from the team indefinitely after allegedly causing thousands of dollars in damage to another student's car in early February.

According to the Nashville City Paper, 21-year-old starting quarterback Michael German and 20-year-old defensive back Joseph Johnson were accused of jumping and dancing on top of a fellow student's car.

The car, a 2011 Ford Fiesta, suffered over $3,000 in damages.

Both students have been charged with felony vandalism.

The City Paper noted that German, a redshirt sophomore, is one of the most successful quarterbacks in TSU history.

Johnson, a redshirt sophomore, transferred to TSU from Marshall University.

Rick DelaHaya, Director of Media Relations for TSU, released a statement early Tuesday evening that read:

"Tennessee State University announced today that two student-athletes have been suspended from the football team stemming from their alleged actions in connection with a February 9th incident. The university issued the following statement: Quarterback Michael German and safety Joseph Johnson are suspended from the football team indefinitely pending the outcome of an investigation. TSU will not issue any other statement regarding the students or the incident at this time."
