MC HAMMER ARRESTED FOR OBSTUCTION, CLAIMS RACIAL PROFILING

MC Hammer was arrested in Dublin, Calif. Thursday (Feb. 21)  for obstruction, and claims to have been racially profiled. In a series of tweets, the legendary rapper blasted reports that he resisted police.

Hammer, born Stanley Burrell, is accused of driving a vehicle with expired tags, and was not the registered owner. The situation took place at the Hacienda Crossings shopping center. "After asking Hammer who the registered owner was he became very argumentative and refused to answer the officer's questions," police spokesman Herb Walters, told CNN in an email.

The 50-year-old was booked and released from the Santa Rita Jail, and used Twitter to tell his side of the story. "Sometimes in life you choose to 'Fight' and other times the 'Fight' chooses you," he wrote. "Dignity is not a crime."

Calling the officer a "chubby looking dude," according to his recount, the cop immediately asked him if he was "on parole or probation."

Things apparently escalated from there. "While I was handing him my ID he reached in my car and tried to pull me out the car but forgot he was on a steady donut diet," he wrote. "It was comical to me until he pulled out his guns, blew his whistle and yelled for help (MallCop) !!! But make no mistake he's dangerous.

"Only thing more dangerous than a scared man with a gun, is a scared man with an agenda, a gun and a badge. I was citied for obstruction smh."

A court date has been scheduled for next month. Police have not yet decided if they are going to press charges.
