An elderly man at a Detroit polling location apparently keeled over Monday, and had it not been for the timely intervention of an EMT voting nearby, his voice wouldn't have been heard -- permanently. "His wife, who was helping him fill out the ballot...screamed for help and I went over to see what I could do," Ty Houston told the Detroit News.
The medic quickly assessed the unidentified victim. "He was dead," Houston recalled. "He had no heartbeat and he wasn't breathing. I started CPR, and after a few minutes, he revived and started breathing again."
After coming back to life, the first question the elderly man asked was reportedly, "Did I vote?" His very relieved wife assured him he had, and he was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
