PENN STATE: $60 Million Fine, 4-Year Bowl Ban

The NCAA announced this morning (Monday) that it is fining Penn State $60 million and banning the football program from post-season competition for four years as punishment for the Jerry Sandusky child-molestation scandal. The program will also be facing scholarship reductions and will have to vacate all of its wins from 1998 through 2011. Though these penalties fall short of the so-called "death penalty" that would have shut down the football program, they are expected to cripple the team for years.
