OLYMPIC UNIFORMS: Senator Says They Should be Torched

The new U.S. Olympic opening ceremony uniforms continue to draw heat from those who were unhappy to discover that designer Ralph Lauren opted to have the duds manufactured in China.

Senator Harry Reid of Nevada is particularly steamed. Reid said today (Thursday), "I am so upset that I think the [U.S.] Olympic Committee should be ashamed of themselves, I think they should be embarrassed." Reid even said the uniforms should be burned, adding, "[If] all that they have to wear is nothing but a singlet with the USA on it painted by hand that's what they should wear. We have people in the textile industry who are desperate for jobs."
