It really doesn't get any more gruesome than this -- two teenage girls in India were gang raped and then left hanging from a tree.

Police in the village of Katra, in India's northwestern state of Uttar Pradesh, have arrested four men -- including two police officers. The girls were 14 and 15 years old, and had left their home to go into a nearby field because they lacked indoor plumbing.

Villagers initially stopped authorities from removing the bodies from the tree, relenting only after the arrests had been made. They say that local police tried to shield the attackers.
