Coumarins (Fig. 18.3F) are also a class of phenolic compounds formed by the association of β-pyrone rings with benzene [51]. They are accountable for the specific odor of food. In in vitro analysis, coumarin was shown to prevent Candida albicans. filexlib. A glycosyl transferase, isolated from Angelica decursiva a medical herb rich in coumarin, shows C-glycosyl transferase activity by in vitro activity assay using 5,7-dihydroxycoumarin as substrate, producing a C-glycosylated product at position C′8 along with the main product at C′6 position. DOI: 10.1016/j.bbrc.2022.05.008 Abstract A glycosyl transferase, isolated from Angelica decursiva a medical herb rich in coumarin, shows C-glycosyl transferase activity by in vitro activity assay using 5,7-dihydroxycoumarin as substrate, producing a C-glycosylated product at position C'8 along with the main product at C'6 position.
It is a 6-C-glucosyl coumarin, with antispasmodic and antihypertensive activities [ 11 ]. The recently discovered C-glycosyltrasferase responsible for dauroside D formation is highly regio- and stereo-selective [ 12 ], showing great potential as a powerful tool for synthesizing of this valuable compound.
The identity and quantity of coumarin-like compounds in leaves and anthodia of Matricaria chamomilla L. were studied by LC-DAD and NMR. So far, two monosubstituted coumarins, herniarin and umbelliferone, and two herniarin precursors were identified therein. In this paper, two other coumarin glycosides and one aglycone were confirmed.
A new coumarin glycoside, peujaponiside [ ( R )-peucedanol 7- O - β - d -apiofuranosyl- (1→6)- β - d -glucopyranoside], was isolated from the roots of Peucedanum japonicum, and its structure was elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic and chemical methods. • flavonoid compounds usually occur in plants as glycosides in which one or more of the phenolic hydroxyl groups are combined with sugar residues. fname of the drug chemical uses constituents milk thistle (silymarin) silybin hepatoprotective, (dried ripe seeds of galactogauge silybum marianum (l) in the treatment of gaerth, family jaundice, …

From the roots ofAngelica dahurica Bentham et Hooker (Umbelliferae), five known coumarin glucosides together with adenosine have been isolated and identified as nodakenin, 3′-hydroxymarmesinin, tert.-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-byakangelicin, sec.-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-byakangelicin and scopolin. This is the first report of the occurrence of these compounds in this plant.
Coumarin Glycosides . This section will discuss toxicants that are derived from coumarin compounds in plants. For example, the glucoside melilotoside found in sweet clover (Melilotus alba and M.officinalis) is an ether of glucose bonded with an ester bond to coumarin. It yields the toxicant dicoumarol when exposed to specific molds.
