wow. really..i can see why because the stamps are for nutrition needs. but to each its own. if i could get them i would purchase drinks too. but thats me...
I don't think the government should not but parents should want to eat healthy and teach their children to eat healthy now and in the future. I wish I knew the complications years ago so that it wouldn't be so hard to now ween my children off junk food and soda's. It goes way back when we were given only the parts of cows and pigs nobody wanted which was the fat and greasy parts causing high blood pressure, high chlolesterol and diabetes. Wake up African American's!!!
I think they need to keep their mouth shut. Food is food. And stop trying to controll everything. So, what they may buy a birthday cake, kool-aid, or a soda or two. What they need to do is get the people that don't need to get food stamps off them. Thats wasting the tax payer money. Not spending them on whatever they want to eat.

WOW!!!!!! THEY really need to find something else to do.
I say they should regulate what can be purchased w/ fod stamps. Maybe this will encourage people to get off the system & promote healthy eating...i'm just saying.
i believe it starts at home. People will still buy the junk food, cold drinks etc. They CAN'T stop people from eating what they want to eat. It starts with self. Heck what about the people who don't receive foodstamps how will they CONTROL us??? I'm just saying. They just targeting the welfare recepients.
I hate to say this out loud but if they cut back or take away from the stamps. Guess What!!! They will sell the ones they get. To get sodas, kool-aid all the fatty foods. So, why go through the BS?
i think it's a good idea for the government to do that. the people that get food stamps should spend it on healthy foods. and buy the crap food with the money they get from selling the rest of the stamps. LOL i believe that if someone in this country needs help they should be helped but in return that person should do what's right or expected with that help. but we all know people that don't. if a person gets 400 dollars stamps some people will go sell half of them and get money. so but the crap with that money, because some people get so many stamps they are gonna sell some of them.
The government should not be allowed to regulate what food items are purchased with foodstamps. Where would one draw the line? Money - "real dollars" - are also issued by the government. Does that mean that the government should be allowed to regulate what is purchased when one uses cash? I mean, our country is currently in a state of financial straits. There is a lot of talk about unnecessary spending on the part of the government, but what about the unnecessary spending on the part of we the people - the fad clothing, the not necessary, but got to have it plasma/ HD tvs? Stop and think, at what point does the government have the right to invade our personal lives to tell us what we can or cannot purchase so long as it is for legal tender? Yeah , I get it. Some of you are thinking, "Shoot, I work hard and I can't buy all of that junk. Why should "they" be allowed to buy all of that when it's government money they're using?" Again, I feel you, but I also know that some of "us" could afford some of that stuff if we did a better job of exercising some discretion in our own spending habits. What gives the government the right to regulate what some of the least fortunate among us can or cannot eat? If I had to go through the experience of trucking down to the county office to subject myself to the demoralizing process of putting in an application, being talked to and treated like crap because some underpaid and overworked casemanager thinks they are better than you...Anyone who can go through the kind of process one has to go through in order to get ANY kind of government assistance, and still feel like a person.. you deserve a snickers bar, and some crab legs!

Hell 2 da Naw!!!!!!!!!,Hell if i want 2 eat only junk den let me!!!!
I thought Food Stamps was to help feed the children, it's the parents job to make sure that they eat healthy. All children enjoy a little ice cream, chips, cookies etc. so we can't always take the enjoyment of having things like this for the children. However, it is the responsibility of the parent to make sure they are buying what is needed with the stamps so that the Government won't have to regulate how this is being used. This is a benefit, and should be used for that purpose, if this should happen hopefully the children will reap from the benefits and not suffer from the after effects.
Considering the fact that the rate of childhood obesity is on the rise, this wouldn't be the worst thing the government has done.
