Five Things Voters Need to Know for Election Day
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Election Day is Tuesday, November 8 and Davidson County polling locations will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. for voters to cast their ballots in the Presidential and State General Election.
Here are five things voters need to know for a smoother voting experience:
Polls are open 7a.m.-7 p.m. The busiest times are early morning and end of day.
Bring your photo ID. Tennessee law requires all voters to present a Federal or Tennessee State government-issued photo ID unless an exception applies. Student IDs will not be accepted.
Know your voting location. There are 160 locations in the county, but voters must vote at their designated polling location. Check your voter registration card or use the online Polling Place Finder. Registered voters who have moved within Davidson County should go to their new voting location where they can do a change of address and vote.
Review the sample ballot. Make your selections on the sample ballot and use it as a guide when you go to vote.
Be patient. Voter turnout is expected to be high, so you may encounter lines. Remember, the other voters and the poll workers are your neighbors.
Voters do not need to show their voter registration card to vote, but it does make it easier for poll officials to locate the voter in the system.
